On Dylan’s 1st Birthday, we gathered some close friends and family and invaded Viceroy, a fabulous brunch spot in Chelsea. Dylan got her own special birthday brunch menu.

After arriving and settling in with Mama, Dylan got right to business socializing with Uncle Dan Dan and Auntie Jarret.

Dylan has quickly to how to ham it up for the camera, and steal your heart at the same time.

Next up: CAKE TIME. After some help blowing out the cake, Dylan had more fun playing with her cake than actually eating it. (Cupcakes from Billy’s Bakery in Chelsea. Their Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting is AWESOME! 4 out of 5 stars on the Dylan Scale.)

Finally, it was back to the MasGar clubhouse, where 3 hours late (per usual) Uncle Inatsuka finally graced us with his presence. YAY!

Since Mama has joined the party hopefully you’ll get two takes on everyday life with Dylan. Now that it’s a family affair, hopefully you’ll hear both mama’s exciting Dylan stories, and see more of how papa spends his Dylan time as well. (Our lives may be crazy busy, but Dylan makes it all worth while). Here’s another pic from Dylan’s fashion shoot. Enjoy!

Not that Merv won’t be able to blog, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be faster and less painless for me to learn to do this than to ask him to do it for me. So on top of taking care of JanetJewelry, walking 4 miles a day to take Dylan to daycare, I will now do my best to keep this updated (anything for Dylan!). I have severe insomnia anyway, and there’s only so many hours in a day that I can think about work….

Dylan highlights of late, in caveman cliffnotes-ese:

Random: we were walking around last weekend, an lo and behold, we see a sign for “The Best Burgers On Earth.” What luck! Not all of New York, we’re talking, planet Earth.

The nicest guy is working there, guarantees the delectability of the burgers, the onion rings and shake, and we were sold!

The results: it’s not Kua Aina Burgers, but not bad. I’d call it “The Best Burgers in Midtown” maybe? I’m a downtown snob.

So Dylan had her 1st birthday a month ago, and I have to show you a photo of the coolest present! All the women who work at JanetJewelry pitched in and got this special, hot pink rocking chair for Dylan!

Merv’s a comicbook geek. The Comicon came to NYC a few weeks ago, and Merv decided that he’d take Dylan with him, and I come home from work and they looked like this:

They actually ended up not going (Merv couldn’t find a playdate for himself), but I thought it was cute. Merv says that we can go next year and we can ALL dress like Klingons. Great.

So it’s 2:46AM and I have the day off (to program the website for a relaunch) but will be watching Dylan all day sans daycare, so we’ll see how much work I actually do get done….

So it’s not illegal child labor if it’s your own kid, right? I can’t WAIT until Dylan learns to program, count beads, solder chains…. oh, did I say that out loud?

Well the Masgar household has been in complete upheaval lately. Janet, Dylan, and I are still in the middle of house construction, and we’ve been slowly rearranging our lives at the same time. The most important thing is everyone is healthy and happy, and Dylan just keeps growing and growing…..
